What is Ozempic?

Ozempic is the type-2 diabetes formulation of semaglutide. While not FDA-approved specifically for weight loss, it is commonly prescribed off-label for that purpose. Produces similar but slightly less pronounced weight loss than Wegovy due to lower maximum dose.

FDA-approved 2017 for type 2 diabetes. Widely used off-label for weight loss.

Dosing Schedule

0.5mg once weekly for the first 4 weeks, then 1mg. May increase to 2mg if needed.

Eligibility Criteria

Approved for adults with type 2 diabetes. Off-label for weight loss: similar criteria as Wegovy.
